As an honorably discharged veteran, OC National Search founder Michael Mitchel is passionate about giving back to his community in service. He is recognized locally and nationally for his veteran service organization leadership, and for his creative approaches and impactful solutions to benefit Veteran non-profit organizations.
Founder and CEO Christian Damstra of Australia-based Damstra Technologies relocated to Denver, Colorado with the purpose of establishing its North American headquarters. Christian engaged OC for his company’s North American Vice President leadership search.
Christian’s strategic plan was to hire a Vice President with the goal of grooming the successful hire to become the North American leader within 16 months so he could return home to Australia.
The search was launched on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic and continued through the global lockdown. Jon Mattei, the successful candidate, started in late spring 2020. Within 10 months he was promoted to Senior Vice President for North America, and Christian returned home eight months ahead of schedule.
Fujitsu America engaged OC National Search for a national Senior Client Executive Sales role for their manufacturing vertical to sell complex outsourcing solutions. During the course of the search, a promising young professional emerged as a leading candidate. He had a strong manufacturing selling profile, but with limited consulting services sales experience. However, OC National was able to identify that his strong sales methodology and skills would align well with the talent Fujitsu was seeking.
Throughout his first 18 months at Fujitsu, he has exceeded all client expectations. Subsequent Client Executive searches have seen the hiring executive consistently compare candidates to the highlighted placed candidate.
Zayo Group, a global network infrastructure company engaged OC National Search on a Senior Director of Compensation and Benefits search, with the position reporting directly to the CEO. Six candidates were submitted and the successful candidate served in a similar role for 15 years at a global financial services organization reporting directly to the C-suite. Due to his experience and unique capabilities, the offered role was elevated to a Vice President position.
Within 3.5 years, the placed candidate was promoted to Vice President of Sales Operations.
Siemens had acquired a national IT consulting firm to penetrate the U.S. market. However, the inherited sales force did not have experience with the new go-to-market IT consulting solutions. OC National Search worked directly with Siemens’ sales leadership and talent acquisition staff to develop the desired profile and target source list.
Our market research demonstrated that Siemens was 33%-55% below competitors’ sales compensation plans. Siemens adjusted the base and commission structure to be successfully competitive.
In the course of 11 years, OC National Search placed one-third of Siemens’ IT Solutions U.S. sales force under the new profile.
An early-stage Denver-based start-up firm was ready to hire its first sales executive. OC National Search consulted with the Chief Revenue Officer on the search/branding strategy and candidate profile. Although the entire sales and marketing team, including the CRO, was unfortunately downsized due to COVID-19, the placed candidate was retained, a testament to her abilities and value to the organization.
In 2005, Seattle-based Point B was an emerging consultancy and engaged OC National Search on several consultant searches. OC placed several local consultants that served with Point B for six to 15 years. One consultant in particular has done so well, that she now serves as their IT Project Management Office Leader.
